Crafting Skills
The nine crafts and, for each of them, what to make from 0 to 100. The tables below were not written by hand: they are generated from the server's own recipe files, so if a recipe changes, the table changes too.
The rest of the crafter's life — tools, mass production, merchant orders, Masterwork — is on the Crafter page. The general skill rules are in Skills.
How to read the tables
Gains are highest on the hardest work you can manage. A row shows the hardest item you can still make in that skill range: that is what teaches the most.
- Once an item has become easy for your skill it stops teaching — move to the next row in the table.
- Items unlocked with a recipe scroll, those needing a separate specialty (Glassblowing, Masonry) and recipes not in this era (Stygian Abyss) are left out of the tables: you cannot make them at that point.
- The material amount is for one attempt. A failed attempt burns part of the materials; sit down with plenty.
- Tools wear out: carry a spare.
Macroing while away from the keyboard is forbidden. These tables are not a "sit and press" recipe but a road map of what to make. Rules: Server Rules.
Blacksmithy
Tool:
smith's hammer · Material:
ingots (smelt ore at a forge) · Where: any anvil + a forge.
If you want to dig the ingots yourself: Mining.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 10–30 | Bascinet (Helmets) | 15 ingots |
| 30–50 | Mace (Bashing) | 6 ingots |
| 50–60 | Kryss (Bladed) | 8 ingots |
| 60–80 | Shuriken (Bladed) | 5 ingots |
| 80–120 | Royal circlet (Helmets) | 6 ingots |
Blacksmithy also repairs armor and weapons; repairing gives gains too. Merchant orders, and bulk orders (BODs) for masters, are the most profitable smith work → Crafter.
Carpentry
Tool:
carpentry tools · Material:
boards (turn logs into boards with the tool).
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–20 | Barrel staves (Other) | 5 boards or logs |
| 20–40 | Barrel lid (Other) | 4 boards or logs |
| 40–50 | Wooden box (Containers) | 10 boards or logs |
| 50–70 | Ballot box (Misc. Add-Ons) | 5 boards or logs |
| 70–90 | Red hanging lantern (Other) | 5 boards or logs + 10 blank scrolls |
| 90–100 | Short music stand (left) (Other) | 15 boards or logs |
| 100–110 | Wild staff (Weapons) | 16 boards or logs |
| 110–120 | Elven bed (south) (Misc. Add-Ons) | 100 boards or logs + 100 cloth |
House furniture, musical instruments, training dummies and chests come from the carpenter. For the Masonry specialty see below.
Tailoring
Tool:
sewing kit +
scissors · Material:
cloth and
leather.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Bandana (Hats) | 2 cloth |
| 10–30 | Leather cap (Leather Armor) | 2 leather or hides |
| 30–50 | Short pants (Pants) | 6 cloth |
| 50–60 | Leather jingasa (Leather Armor) | 4 leather or hides |
| 60–80 | Leather gloves (Leather Armor) | 3 leather or hides |
| 80–100 | Oil cloth (Miscellaneous) | 1 cloth |
| 100–110 | Bone helmet (Bone Armor) | 4 leather or hides + 2 bones |
| 110–120 | Bone arms (Bone Armor) | 8 leather or hides + 4 bones |
Leather comes from the animals you carve (cut the corpse with a knife); cloth is made by spinning and weaving cotton or wool — spinning wheels and looms are in the tailor shops in the towns.
Bandages are also tailor's work: use scissors on cloth.
Tinkering
Tool:
tinker's tools · Material:
ingots,
boards, gems.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Knife (right) (Utensils) | 1 ingots |
| 10–40 | Fork (left) (Utensils) | 1 ingots |
| 40–50 | Hammer (Tools) | 1 ingots |
| 50–60 | Tongs (Tools) | 1 ingots |
| 60–90 | Lockpick (Tools) | 1 ingots |
| 90–120 | Nunchaku (Wooden Items) | 3 ingots + 8 boards or logs |
Tinkering is the most useful support branch in the game: keys, locks, traps, tools, jewelry, spinning wheels and lockpicks all come from here. It goes together with Lockpicking and Remove Trap.
Tinker vendors (tinker's tools, tools, parts): Britain (the tinkers' guild building), Minoc, Vesper, Magincia, Jhelom, Serpent's Hold. The tinkers' guildmaster sells nothing; to buy, left-click the Tinker next to them → Buy.
Alchemy
Tool:
mortar and pestle · Material: reagents + empty bottles.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 10–30 | Lesser explosion (Explosion) | 3 sulfurous ash + 1 empty bottles |
| 30–60 | Agility (Agility) | 1 blood moss + 1 empty bottles |
| 60–70 | Strength (Strength) | 2 mandrake root + 1 empty bottles |
| 70–100 | Greater poison (Poison) | 4 nightshade + 1 empty bottles |
| 100–120 | Deadly poison (Poison) | 8 nightshade + 1 empty bottles |
Reagents are plentiful and cheap at the mage merchant; you buy bottles in the same place. You sell potions to yourself, your friends or on the market.
Glassblowing (an Alchemy specialty)
Glassblowing is a separate recipe list. It has two conditions: Alchemy 100 and the book bought from the glassblower merchant in Ilshenar (10,637 gold). Double-clicking the book unlocks the specialty; you also need a blowpipe and a heating stand. Sand is dug from beaches with a shovel (that needs the sand book from the same merchant).
Cooking
Tool: skillet (sold by the Cook; for pastries, a rolling pin and flour sifter) · Fire: for cooked dishes a campfire, hearth or oven must be within 2 tiles · Material:
flour,
eggs, raw meat and fish.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Dough (Ingredients) | 1 flour + 1 water |
| 10–70 | Chicken leg (Barbecue) | 1 raw chicken legs |
| 70–80 | Miso soup (Baking) | 1 raw fish steaks + 1 water |
| 80–100 | Wasabi clumps (Preparations) | 1 water + 3 bowl of peas |
| 100–120 | Egg bomb (Preparations) | 1 eggs + 3 flour |
Flour + water = dough; from dough come bread, pies and cakes. All recipes, which merchant sells each ingredient for how much, and the skill ladder → Cooking
Where flour comes from: a sack of flour is sold ready-made by the Baker (the NPC labeled [Baker]; in Britain at 1450, 1617), the Cook and the Miller. If you want to grind your own flour from wheat, you must be within 2 tiles of a flour mill; otherwise the game says "You must be near a flour mill to do that." Britain has no flour mill; there are ones in Yew (550–554, 820) and Papua (5755, 3190). You can also put a flour mill in your house: it is made with carpentry (Carpentry 94.7).
Cooking fish
- Cut the fish into steaks: double-click a knife (a dagger or butcher's knife; a sword works too) and target the fish in your backpack. Each fish gives 4 Raw Fish Steaks; a big fish gives more.
- Go next to a fire: a campfire, hearth or oven must be within 2 tiles. For a campfire, double-click the kindling in your backpack. If there is no fire nearby, the game says "You must be near a fire source to cook."
- Double-click the skillet → Barbecue → fish steak. The skillet is bought from the Cook (the NPC labeled [Cook]; which towns they are in → NPC Guide).
Raw food does not cook by double-clicking it or dragging it onto a fire. You can cook fish steaks from 0 Cooking, but at low skill most attempts fail and part of the materials may be lost; the skill rises as you cook. Meat (ribs, legs, chicken) cooks the same way, from the Barbecue menu. Cooking is cheap to train: the baker sells the ingredients for pennies.
Bowcraft/Fletching
Tool: fletcher's tools · Material:
logs/boards,
feathers,
shafts.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Crossbow bolt (Ammunition) | 1 arrow shafts + 1 feathers |
| 10–40 | Shaft (Materials) | 1 boards or logs |
| 40–60 | Bow (Weapons) | 7 boards or logs |
| 60–90 | Fukiya dart (Ammunition) | 1 boards or logs |
| 90–100 | Composite bow (Weapons) | 7 boards or logs |
| 100–120 | Yumi (Weapons) | 10 boards or logs |
If you are an archer, this branch frees you from buying ammunition: shafts from logs, arrows from shafts. Feathers come from birds or are sold by merchants.
Do not mix them up: bows and crossbows need Bowcraft/Fletching, not Archery. The two sit next to each other in the skills window; Archery is the skill of shooting and does not count for crafting. A crossbow needs at least 60, a heavy crossbow 80 and a repeating crossbow 90 Bowcraft/Fletching.
Inscription
Tool:
scribe's pen · Material:
blank scrolls + the spell's reagents + mana.
What Inscription really makes is spell scrolls; each circle has its own threshold:
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | 2nd circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 10–20 | 3rd circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 20–40 | 4th circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 40–50 | 5th circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 50–70 | 6th circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 70–80 | 7th circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
| 80–120 | 8th circle spell scrolls | 1 blank scroll + the spell's reagents |
To write a scroll, the spell must be in your spellbook and you need enough mana. Ready-made books with the spells written in are sold by the mages of Britain and Moonglow (circles 1–3 for 2,000 gp, circles 1–6 for 12,000 gp) → Magic Skills. Scribes also make spellbooks, runebooks and bulk order books.
Necromancy scrolls are also written with Inscription; they need the Necromancy skill and the dark reagents.
Cartography
Tool: mapmaker's pen · Material:
blank maps.
| Skill | What to make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 10–40 | Local map (Maps) | 1 blank maps or scrolls |
| 40–50 | City map (Maps) | 1 blank maps or scrolls |
| 50–60 | Sea chart (Maps) | 1 blank maps or scrolls |
| 60–100 | World map (Maps) | 1 blank maps or scrolls |
The real work of cartography is decoding treasure maps: double-click a map you found to decode it, then dig up the treasure with a shovel. The skill required rises with the map's level.
Masonry (a Carpentry specialty)
Carving items out of granite is a separate specialty: Carpentry 100 and the book bought from the stonecrafter in Ilshenar (10,625 gold). Granite comes from the stone blocks you get by mining.
