Traveler's Road
A quest chain that teaches newcomers the game step by step. Every step tells you what you need, where to get it, the menu path and the price; the direction arrow on your screen shows where to go.
The profession you choose when creating your character sets your starting skills and your bag; you can play the Traveler's Road whatever profession you picked. → Professions
Start: the inn in Britain (just east of the bank) — Innkeeper Agatha. Left-click the innkeeper → Ask for a Quest. On your first login, Agatha's call opens as a card in the middle of the screen; Agatha is right next to you at that moment.
Every quest giver has the same menu. If the left-click menu shows Ask for a Quest, that NPC gives quests. If the entry is grayed out, the NPC has nothing for you right now (you already did the quest, you do not meet the condition, or the cooldown has not run out). If you have a quest in progress, the same spot says Quest Status; if you finished it, Turn In Quest. Double-clicking the NPC still works too.
1. Welcome and the core quests
The shared part everyone does: the bank, death and travel.
| Quest | What you do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Road-Weary Traveler | Open the Traveler's Journal in your backpack | — |
| Safe in the Vault | Open your bank box at the Britain Bank | 100 gp |
| Death Is Not the End | Go to the Britain healer | 100 gp |
| Light of the Moongate | Reach the Moonglow moongate. When it is done, if you have no horse the arrow leads you to the stablemaster at the Rearing Horse Stables north of the inn: your first lesson there gives you a horse | 100 gp |
2. The Crossroads
When the core is finished, The Crossroads window opens. You choose one of four branches (or all of them in turn).
Lesson — "Memory of the Road" · reward: Traveler's Runebook
Under the four branches in The Crossroads window there is a lesson; it is independent of the branches and you can take it any time.
- Left-click a mage → Buy → buy a Recall Rune (15 gp). The arrow leads you to the mage.
- Agatha gives you a Traveler's Seal. Double-click the seal and choose the rune: the rune is marked at the courtyard in front of the inn. The seal works once.
- Return to Agatha.
Reward: the Traveler's Runebook (personal: it cannot be sold or given away and does not drop when you die; it stays in your main backpack) and 3 Recall scrolls. It is given once per account; other characters on the same account can do the lesson but do not get the book. Drop scrolls on the book to charge it; traveling with charges needs no Magery → Travel. New books and scrolls come from scribes.
Adventurer — "The Guard's Debt" · title: Friend of the Guard
| Quest | What you do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| The Wounded Guard | Buy 5 bandages from a healer (left-click → Buy); double-click the bandages and bandage yourself or a companion | 50 gp |
| The Lost Patrol | Go to the Britain cemetery; defeat 3 skeletons or zombies | 50 gp |
| Whispers in the Cemetery | Return to the cemetery; defeat 6 undead (skeletons, zombies, ghouls, ghosts…) | 100 gp + title |
Craftsman — "The First Order" · title: Apprentice Craftsman
| Quest | What you do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| What the Town Needs | Buy a sewing kit and 10 cloth from a tailor; double-click the sewing kit → Hats → skullcap, sew 3 | 50 gp |
| In Search of Materials | Buy a hatchet (or a pickaxe) from a weaponsmith; collect 20 logs from trees with the hatchet | 50 gp |
| First Sale | Left-click the tailor → Sell: sell your skullcaps; put the earnings in the bank | 100 gp + title |
Wanderer — "Owner of the Wreck" · title: Wreck Hunter
| Quest | What you do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| The First Fishing Pole | Buy a fishing pole from the fisherman on the docks; catch 3 fish on the docks | 50 gp |
| A Secret from the Water | Fish until a Piece of Wreckage gets caught on your line | 50 gp |
| The Owner's Story | Take the Piece of Wreckage to the Skara Brae moongate | 100 gp + title |
Gatherer — "The Earth's Share" · title: Friend of the Earth
| Quest | What you do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Tool and Vein | Buy a pickaxe/hatchet from a weaponsmith (or a fishing pole from a fisherman); gather 30 resources — ore, logs and fish all count toward the same total | 50 gp |
| Whose Goods to Whom | Sell one of the things you gathered to the right merchant: logs to a carpenter, fish to a fisherman, ingots to a blacksmith. No merchant buys ore; smelt it at a blacksmith's forge first (double-click the ore, target the forge) and sell the ingots. The arrow shows the nearest merchant who buys what is in your backpack. Put the earnings in the bank | 50 gp |
| The Merchant's Order | Go to the fields west of Britain; take a Trade Order from a farmer and deliver it | 100 gp + title |
In the Gatherer branch the second step has no direction arrow: the resource is a place, not a person. Trees are outside the walls, mines on the mountainside and in caves, fish on the docks. The Trade Order pays its own reward separately and uses 1 of your 4 daily gatherer orders. If you have used them up, the quest is not lost; you continue tomorrow.
If you finish all four branches with the same character, the Master of the Traveler's Road title is yours too (achievement name: Traveler of Four Roads). If you earned this title earlier with three branches, you keep it.
Outside the branches: the animal trainer (the stablemaster) gives a three-lesson chain of their own — "First Companion". It does not appear in The Crossroads, does not count as a branch and does not affect the master title; you can take it whatever road you chose. The first lesson's reward is a horse (open to all players); at the end of the chain comes the Rein Holder title. → Animal Tamer
Gold rewards
- Core 300 gp, each branch 200 gp (four branches = 800 gp).
- Gold rewards are given to each person's first 3 characters (game accounts linked to the same web account count together → Web Account); later characters can still do the quests but receive no gold.
- Titles give no power; they are only for show → Titles.
Direction arrow
- If your active Traveler's Road step needs you to go somewhere or find a merchant, an arrow appears on the screen and keeps updating.
- The arrow shows the target however far away it is.
- The arrow picks the shortest way: if going through a moongate is clearly shorter, or the target is across water, it first shows the moongate ("Britain moongate (toward Skara Brae)"), and once you are next to it, it says "enter the moongate, choose Skara Brae". For Skara Brae island it shows the ferry if that is shorter than from the mainland dock. If the target is in another land (Ilshenar, Malas), it first shows the gate that leads there and which tab to choose ("enter the moongate, choose Ilshenar → Compassion").
- The arrow points as the crow flies: it does not go around mountains and buildings, but it does send you to a gate or the ferry to cross seas and lakes.
- The arrow does not disappear when you pass through a moongate or take a new quest.
- The arrow shows the line you are tracking in the Traveler's Journal: a quest, a hunting contract, a merchant or zoologist order. If you just took the job, the arrow appears within a few seconds.
- If you are in a dungeon and the target is outside, the arrow first shows the dungeon exit; if the target is inside a dungeon, first that dungeon's entrance.
- If your step is to kill creatures or gather something at a place, the arrow leads you back there when you move away; while you are there it is hidden (the creatures are around you).
- If the arrow wants you to pass by a moongate or a captain, it says "(the way leads past the Britain moongate)"; if you need to enter the gate, it says "enter the moongate, choose …".
- An arrow you open with the Tracking skill is not hidden under the quest arrow.
- A target you chose with Show the way in the NPC Guide, the Bazaar or the Market ends when you log out; if no way there can be found, the arrow goes on showing your quest.
- Right-click the arrow to turn it off. To bring it back: Traveler's Journal → Quests → Show the way.
- If you already have the item a step needs (e.g. you bought a hatchet earlier), the "buy" step completes by itself.
Is progress ever lost?
No. Quest progress and the quests you finished are kept even when the server restarts.
