Web Account and Game Accounts
UORoots has two kinds of account:
- Web account — you log in to uoroots.com with your email and your website password. You open and manage your game accounts here.
- Game account — the account name and game password you type on the game's login screen. At most 3 game accounts can be linked to one web account; your characters live in each game account.
Your website password does not work in the game, and your game password does not work on the website. Keep them different.
Account deletion
The staff can permanently delete a game account when necessary. Your account is never deleted while you are in the game.
- All characters and houses of a deleted account are deleted too. If other players co-own the house, they are affected as well.
- It cannot be undone.
- Your web account remains, and your right to open an account comes back.
Which email addresses are accepted
You need an address you use permanently to sign up. Accounts cannot be opened with disposable ("10-minute", "temporary") email services: if you ever need to recover your account, you could not reach that address and a password reset would be useless.
Privacy alias services (Apple Hide My Email, DuckDuckGo, SimpleLogin, Firefox Relay) are accepted — they are not disposable; mail lands in your real inbox.
If you think your address was rejected unfairly, open a help request; the list will be corrected.
Link Discord: the Citizen role
If you link your Discord to your web account and have a ready game account, you get the Citizen role on our Discord server. Citizens can post in #pazar-yeri (the marketplace channel) and join voice channels; everyone can read.
- How: My Account → Link Discord → allow it on Discord. The role arrives at once.
- If you have not joined our Discord server yet, join first (discord.gg/DxeZScWx24); the role arrives within 10 minutes.
- Nobody can request the role by hand; only the link on the website counts. If you remove your Discord link, or any of your game accounts is banned in the game, the role is taken back.
- The Discord and the Citizen role box on My Account shows the state of your role. Only one Discord account can be linked to a web account; to change it, first Unlink in the same box (the role is removed at once), then link the new one.
Logging in with Google and Discord
On the sign-up and login screens you can continue with Google or with Discord ("Sign up with Google", "Sign in with Discord"). You do not need to set a password; next time you just press the same button.
- No email verification is asked for. Google and Discord tell us the email belongs to you and is verified, so we do not send a separate verification mail. With a normal (password) sign-up, the verification mail comes as usual.
- The invite rule applies unchanged. While sign-up is invite-only, an invite code is required even if you come through Google/Discord. When sign-up is open to everyone, neither asks for one.
- The 18+ and terms confirmation is also taken with social login.
- If you already have an account: linking Google/Discord with the same email merges the accounts. For security this only happens if the provider has verified the email; otherwise you are asked to log in with your password first and link it from the My Account page.
- If two-step login is on, social login also asks for the verification code.
- You have no website password. If you want to set one: My Account → Security → Website password → Set a password — a link comes to your email (valid for 60 minutes) and you set your password there. "Forgot my password" on the login screen does the same. Once you have set a password, you can also log in with your email and password.
- You need a website password before turning on two-step login: your password is asked for when you turn it on. Without a password the Turn on button looks faded and the text below it tells you what to do.
Signing up
Depending on the staff's choice, sign-up is either by invite code or open to everyone; the sign-up page says which applies. During invite-only periods, the person who invited you or a game administrator gives you the code (format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). During open periods no code is needed; if you have one, you can still enter it.
- uoroots.com → Log in at the top right → Sign up (during invite-only periods, Sign up with an invite code).
- Enter (during invite-only periods, the invite code,) a display name, email and website password; tick that you are over 18 and accept the Terms of Use and the Privacy notice. The website password must be at least 10 characters and must not appear in a known data breach (the site checks this without sending your password to anyone).
- Click the verification link sent to your email. The link is valid for 60 minutes; if it does not arrive, check your spam folder or press Send again on the page. Sign-ups not verified within 48 hours are deleted and the invite code becomes usable again. You can only open a game account after verifying your email.
The display name is shown on the website; it is not your character name in the game.
Opening a game account
My Account → Game accounts → + New game account
- Account name: 3-16 characters; only English letters (a-z) and digits. Upper case is turned into lower case. Some names (e.g.
admin,gm,destek) cannot be used. - Game password: 8-30 characters. Letters outside the English alphabet (such as ç, ğ, ı, ö, ş, ü) cannot be used — the game client cannot send them from the login screen. It cannot be the same as your website password.
Game accounts linked to the same web account count as one person in the game: Traveler's Road gold, the return kit, the daily limit for merchant orders, the cooldown after delivering, the weekly limit for reward items and the weekly contests are all counted together across your accounts.
The account is Ready to play within a few seconds. If the server cannot be reached at that moment, the account shows Confirming; it sorts itself out within a few minutes and you do not need to do anything.
In a very rare case (if the server shuts down unexpectedly right after the account was opened), the account shows Needs reopening. Press Reopen and set a new game password; the account is opened again with the same name.
Your characters
On My Account, to the right of each game account's row is a Show characters button (the number next to it is the number of characters on that account); the characters open in a separate window. Close the window with ×, the Esc key or by clicking outside it. A character that is in the game already shows an in game badge on the account row. In the window, each character has its name, guild, title and badges (in game, Young, hidden on the site) and when it was last seen on the first line; your three highest skills on the second line; and the skill total, strength/dexterity/intelligence and play time (in minutes if under an hour) on the third line, with profile and Hide on the site on the right. The information is taken from the game every 5 minutes — the last update time is shown at the top of the page and at the bottom of the window; a change you make in the game shows up a few minutes later. copy next to the account name copies the name to the clipboard.
Public profile and leaderboards
Your characters have a public profile on the website (uoroots.com/en/character/…): name, guild, title, whether they are in the game, all skills, play time, last seen (to the day), fame, karma, murder count and their look in the game (as in the paperdoll, with what they wear and its colors; since anyone in the game can look at your paperdoll, this reveals nothing new). The three public characters with the highest skill totals appear on the home page in the Britannia's finest section.
The character page has four tabs: Overview (the above), Blood Ledger (your PvP statistics → Warrior), Progress (the curve over time of your skills, strength/dexterity/intelligence, fame and karma, and play time; recorded once a day, recording started on September 22, 2026) and Record (your achievements and titles, contest trophies, hunting/merchant/zoologist deliveries and heads turned in). History is kept indefinitely; daily records older than a year are kept weekly. Characters also appear in the Leaderboard tables: skill total, Rising (biggest increase in skill total or play time over the last 7 or 30 days), Skill masters (the leader in each skill; clicking a skill shows its top 50), play time, Achievements (number of achievements), PvP, Lawmen and guilds. Equal values share the same rank. If you are logged in, the Your rank box in the right column shows where your own characters stand in that ranking; a character you hid says "Your profile is hidden; not ranked" there.
If you do not want this, close your profile with Hide on the site next to the character in the My Account → Show characters window: your profile and look close at once, and you disappear from the leaderboards and the home page within a few minutes; in the home page's "From Britannia" feed "A traveler" appears instead of your name, and "Hidden player" in the Blood Ledger. Show on the site opens it again.
Public profiles and guild pages are also submitted to search engines (Google etc.); your profile may show up in results when someone searches for your character's name. A profile you hide is not submitted; if it was listed before, the search engine removes it on its next crawl. Public forum topics may also appear in search results; bug reports private to the team do not.
Your bank gold, your game account name and your IP address are never shown. Staff characters are not listed.
Logging in to the game
In the launcher, PLAY → on the login screen, your account name (as written on My Account, e.g. ayla) and that account's game password → ENTER THE WORLD. Details: Installation and First Login.
Linking an old game account
If a game administrator opened an account for you earlier, link it to your web account: My Account → Link my existing account (this button only appears when the staff has turned account linking on; if you do not see it, open a help request or write to [email protected]) → the account name and that account's game password. A linked account also counts toward the 3-account limit. Your characters and items stay as they are.
- Whether the account name or the game password is wrong, you see the same warning.
- If a wrong password is tried too many times, linking is locked for a while (5 attempts per 15 minutes per web account).
- A game account linked to another web account cannot be linked; if there is a mistake, write to [email protected].
Passwords
- Changing your game password: My Account → Change game password next to the account. If you are in the game, the new password applies from your next login. If you forgot your game password, you set a new one here too.
- Changing your website password: My Account → Security → Website password → Change. If you signed up with Google or Discord, it says Set a password here; the link comes to your email.
- If you forgot your website password: Forgot my password on the login page → the link sent to your email (valid for 60 minutes). This only changes your website password.
Two-step login
Optional, and recommended: it protects your account even if your website password is stolen. My Account → Security → Two-step login → Turn on → scan the code with an authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, Aegis, 1Password…) → enter the 6-digit code from the app.
When you turn it on you are shown recovery codes; write them down somewhere safe. If your phone is not with you, you use one of these codes to log in (each works once). The codes are never shown again; if needed, get new ones with New recovery codes — the old codes stop working at that moment, so the site asks you to confirm first. Turn off for two-step login also asks for confirmation.
Letters from the game world
Optional, and off by default. If you turn it on, when you have not logged in for a long time a letter arrives, written for your most-played character's profession and the town they were last in; below it are a few of the things added to the game while you were away.
- Turning it on or off: at the bottom of the My Account page, the "The game world may write to me by letter." box in the Letters from the game world section. You can also tick it when signing up.
- When: one letter 14 days after your last login, one more after 45 days; then it stops. Logging in to the game resets the count.
- They only go to accounts that have played for at least 2 hours.
- Every letter has a link to stop the letters; it switches them off with one click, without logging in. Verification, password and support emails are not affected.
Security and privacy
- Your game password is not stored on the website; it lives only on the game server, encrypted.
- The UORoots team will never ask for your password. Report messages asking for passwords to [email protected].
