Champion Altars
The server's biggest group content: clearing the creatures that keep spawning around an altar to bring forth a champion. The reward is power scrolls (the only way to take a skill above 100) and a large amount of gold. They are all in Felucca: full loot applies, and other players can come and raid.
Where and when
| Dungeon altars | Deceit, Despise, Destard, Fire Dungeon, Terathan Keep |
| Lost Lands | 12 altars (T2A) |
| Waking | Every evening at 21:00 (Istanbul time, UTC+3): one dungeon altar and one Lost Lands altar |
| What the announcement says | The place and the champion that will appear at that altar: "Despise — Barracoon", "Lost Lands — Semidar" |
| How you hear about it | In-game notification · Traveler's Journal → Quests · the Events page on the website |
Dungeon altars come alive when a player approaches. At an awakened altar, creatures keep spawning; another altar is chosen on another day (the same one can come up twice in a row).
How a round works
- You kill the creatures around the altar; first white, then red candles light on the altar.
- With every red candle the creatures get stronger. As the levels advance, fewer kills are needed (256 → 128 → 64 → 32 → 16).
- After 16 red candles the champion appears. A full round is about 1,900 kills.
- If there is no progress for 30 minutes the counter goes back, and after a long wait the altar resets. So a round is group work; one person usually cannot get past the first levels.
- When the champion dies, the gold is shared, the power scrolls are handed out, and at dungeon altars a black moongate to the Star Room appears.
Participation points
Rewards are not shared by "who landed the last hit" but by the contribution you made during the round. Double-click the altar to see this round's table: the top five participants, your total points, your own contribution and whether you have passed the scroll threshold.
| What you do | What you earn |
|---|---|
| Killing the altar's creatures | 10–40 points depending on the creature's level |
| Damaging creatures | Every 7 damage = 1 point |
| Damaging the champion | Every 40 damage = 1 point (less often, because its health is very high) |
| Healing someone else or their pet | Every 20 health = 1 point (healing yourself does not count) |
| A successful provoke or discord | 5 points |
| Resurrecting someone who died | 25 points |
| A kill by a party member | If you are nearby (18 steps), 30% of the kill points are credited to you too — but only if you contributed as well |
Healers, bards and resurrectors earn their own points this way; they share in the reward even without landing a hit.
Your own contribution counts separately. In the points table you see two numbers: your total points and your own contribution (excluding the party share). The reward thresholds look at your own contribution — a party member standing idle at the altar cannot pass them.
Rewards
Power scrolls
- When the champion dies, 6 scrolls drop: a 60% chance of 110, 35% of 115, 5% of 120.
- To be in the draw, your own contribution must be at least 200 points (about 20 kills, or 4,000 health healed, or 1,400 damage). Just turning up at the end to hit the champion is not enough: even killing the whole champion alone gives at most 120 points.
- Never having hit the champion is no obstacle: a healer who passed the threshold enters the draw too. You only need to be in the altar's area and in the game when the champion dies.
- The draw is proportional to your points, but there is a per-person cap: in proportion to how many people the 6 scrolls are spread over (in a three-person round, nobody can get more than 2). That way the top scorer cannot take them all, and a low-scoring participant does not leave empty-handed.
- Whoever finishes a round alone gets 3 scrolls, not 6: so that one person cannot monopolize the server's scroll supply. This counts per person; bringing a second character into the draw does not raise the cap.
- Blacksmithy and tailoring scrolls do not come from champions; they stay in the large crafting order rewards.
Gold
When the champion dies, the gold is not thrown into the air; it is divided by participation points and drops at each participant's feet, locked to that person for 5 minutes. If you died, the lock lasts until you are resurrected (at most 30 minutes): falling in the fight does not mean losing your share. To get a share, your own contribution must be at least 50 points and you must be near the altar when the champion dies: logging out at the last moment to pocket a share without risk does not work.
Your share is not lost if you are dead: the lock does not run while you are a ghost; after you are resurrected you have 5 minutes to pick it up. So nobody can play tricks, the upper limit is 30 minutes; when it expires the gold is open to everyone. During that time nobody else can pick it up from the ground (if they hover over it they see that this gold is someone's share); when the time is up it turns into ordinary gold. The lock drops the moment you put it in your backpack: if you are killed in Felucca, that gold becomes loot too. You get a notification when you take your share.
Other
- Every creature you kill during the round has a small chance to drop a Scroll of Transcendence or a 105 power scroll.
- Every kill and the champion give the Valor virtue; title progress runs by champion type.
- Everyone who earns loot rights at a champion's death gets the Champion Slayer achievement and the Champion Hunter title in Titles. → Titles
The Harrower and the skulls
Every time a champion dies, a skull specific to its type (Power, Death, Greed, Venom, Pain, Enlightenment) goes to one of those who earned loot rights. Skulls can be bought and sold.
When all six types are placed on the braziers in the Star Room, the Harrower is summoned: with 30,000 health (65,000 in its true form) and tentacles it scatters around, it is the server's biggest creature. The black moongate to the Star Room appears at dungeon altars after the champion dies.
Its rewards follow the same rules as a champion's:
| Stat scrolls | 16: 30% → 230, 25% → 235, 20% → 240, 15% → 245, 10% → 250 stat cap |
| Who gets them | Those whose own contribution during the round is at least 200 points (killing tentacles, dealing damage, healing, barding, resurrecting) |
| Distribution | A points-weighted draw with a per-person cap |
| If one person finishes it | 6 scrolls, not 16 |
| Gold | Divided by participation points, drops at your feet, locked to you (the champion rules) |
Watch out
- Felucca rules apply: when you die you lose your uninsured items, and other players can attack. The area around an altar is the server's busiest and riskiest place. → World and Basic Rules
- Young protection does not protect you in dungeons. → Young Players
- The dungeon of the week does not mix with the altar area: the creatures around the altar do not become paragons and give no extra gold, otherwise the champion could never be brought out. → Warrior
- Altar creatures do not count toward hunting contracts; contract targets are the dungeon's normal creatures. → Warrior
- The macro and assistant rules apply here too: training while away from the keyboard is forbidden. → World and Basic Rules
